I have read all his books and feel like this one gets to the point
By MIchael Jakeman
If you have read other books about drug addiction/recovery and are feeling quite pessimistic that this one won’t be any different then you can now take a big sigh of relief.

I have not read any other author who comes close to understanding ‘drug addiction’ except for this author. I could not believe the huge amount of insights I gained and ‘ahah’ moments I had when reading Jost Sauer’s material. I have read all his books and feel like this one gets to the point, is easy to read and understand and it delivers the insights and conceptual shifts necessary for someone to move beyond the negative emotional states that comes with long term drug/alcohol use and into a life that is more addictive and fulfilling than the drug states themselves.

A lot of the ideas will be new and if you don’t have an open mind you will be skeptical…except if you have done drugs. I am a former binge drinker and ‘drug user’, when I read Jost’s books all the ideas clicked and I felt inspired to make a change and shift my preconceived ideas about drug use.

This guy is not stuck in the conceptual prisms inherent in mainstream psychiatry, psychology and therapy. If you go to a therapist, counselor, psychologist most likely they have not done drugs. I don’t get my car tuned from a person who has never driven a car. Why would I seek advice on moving beyond drug use from someone who could not possibly understand the ecstatic and fulfilling states, the superhuman abilities one can experience and the psychological growth and knowledge imparted on the drug taker by these intelligent substances.

Therapists normally label drugs as ‘bad’ and that we should restrict ourselves, develop more functional thought processes, try to be content doing what ‘normal people are doing’. At best they talk about a healthy lifestyle and engaging in exercise. But moving beyond drugs is much more complex than that. It needs to be approached in a truly holistic way.

Such strategies that conventional therapists use only make us feel guilty and depressed because they do not work and lead us to feel we have failed, we are not strong enough, that we are hopeless even. This book shows you how to achieve the ecstatic states we experience on drugs through working with the body not the mind. I did meditation, mindfulness based therapy for years without much benefit/positive feel good states as my body needed to be healed and upgraded first.

Then it goes a step further into re-framing ones drug experiences into a positive necessary path we took to learn and evolve our being to move into a life that makes you excited to get up in the morning.

No one who does drugs wants to give up them up. This book demonstrates that we don’t have to give up these states we achieved on drugs.

So read this book if:

-You are sick of the guilt inducing, restrictive, depressive out dated concepts of drugs recovery and want the methods that actually work and make sense to you.

-You don’t want to give up the awesome states you experience on drugs.

-You want to be inspired to create a life that excites you and that is you.

-Want to understand the necessary connection between living life on your own terms/being yourself and living life high where you have no desire for drugs.

-You are a frustrated professional in the field who sees that the conventional approaches are not working and are looking for a new direction and new way of approaching drug recovery.

It's time for a rebellion...
By Shane Gregory
The Rebels Guide to Recovery is Jost Sauer’s fourth book and his third about drug addiction. If you know nothing about Jost he is a modern day mystic that comes at drug addiction from the point of Chinese Medicine.

Rebels Guide is simply written and is very easy to read (I read it in less than 4 hrs). It is quite clearly written for people with the attention span of a 2 year old kid, much like myself. If you have no idea about Chinese medicine it doesn’t matter. Jost’s explanations are nothing short of superb. It is witty, honest and quite simply genius!

In an industry where everyone has an opinion and is quick to jump to conclusions and judgements about what is right and wrong, Rebels Guide does none of that. It’s simply, you’ve done drugs, what did you get right and what can you do now that you want to stop.

At its core it is about regaining the highs without the lows. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about spirituality without having to change your name to Guru Shakti or Sri Sananda (if you want to, that’s cool there’s no judgements). It’s about individuals, its about rebels and revolution, it’s about being who you were born to be, its about being hardwired for bliss.

What it is not, is theory. This isn’t about reward pathways, addictive personalities, dopamine and seratonin. This is about Chi. This a how to guide not only to stop drugs, but how to continue to live in altered states.

It’s about that feeling you get when you drop acid and your at one with the universe, it’s the love you feel at a rave munted on MDMA. The creativity download you get when you smoke a joint and bust out that tune that blew everyones mind. It’s the superhuman normal you feel on meth and the sublime nothing on smack. This is Chi and Chi is so much more and it is available to you 24/7. The Rebel’s Guide teaches you how to do it.

How do I know? I’ve done them both... I’ve lived it. Both sides of the coin. The drugs and the journey after.

So I have a question for you... When it comes to drug recovery what would you prefer? Sitting around at meetings talking about how diseased you are and how much your life sucks. Or. Would your prefer to dance with Chi in a state of cosmic bliss!

Thanks Jost. You did it again :)

More than just a book on recovery!
By Nick
Finally a book that explains a more realistic approach to sort through the mess of life after drug use and/ or any destructive habbits. The authors approach is to rebuild the whole package of body and mind and not to just wonder back into to society and 'function' , but to reclaim the intensity and great feelings you once experience. Some might say "where is the proof?" Well it's all in the pudding, I saw Jost at a talk at a Martial Arts expo ,he looked like a movie star and spoke with so much poise and depth he was able to articulate the things that everyone feels and thinks about but don't have the courage to express, he was so caring and you instantly felt that he's got your back. He was also very funny and inspiring. For a man to be like this today after years of self destruction he's truley on to something here.... If you're struggling to make sense of things after use or somebody that partied hard and feel a bit lost or just a person that is so disinchanted about the 'Jail' we call society today....?? Well this book will bail you out!
