This is an excellent “how to” monograph on vascular, neurologic, and trauma in rodent models. Several color and line diagrams form the basis of this rat microsurgical and peripheral nerve techniques used in research. This is a primer for all surgeons with respect to investigative studies involving animal models. Microanatomosis of vein to vein, artery to artery, and peripheral nerve repair. Conduit use and experimental ideas are incorporated into the description. Small instruments and microanatomy are described esp. with reference to the mouse and rat. I think this is a very good book for General Surgery residents, and orthopaedics residents. Transplants and multiorgan regeneration are covered in minute detail. Splenectomy, hepatectomy, bowel resection, skin and organ flaps are diagrammed very well. Thymectomy and cardiac regeneration are also described. In short, this is a very good book.
