The Aging Game Nails It

As a caregiver of a parent who suffered from Lewy Body Disease and another parent who has Dementia Nos acquired as a result of COPD; I can recommend this book without reservation. It is a book I wish had been available when I commenced my journey as a Caregiver over 8 years ago. In plain English, this is a guide through the day to day pain and joy of being a caregiver to a parent. The unexpected role reversal, the understanding that logic no longer applies in the situation. It touches a little on the anguish and frustration of getting that critical diagnosis. It is a toolkit that will help you through the emotional roller coaster that will be experienced in this role. It will help you understand the feelings of guilt and despair that you will face. It acknowledges these and in this action validates your feelings. You are not alone. The juxtaposition of viewpoints at the end of the book allows the caregiver to experience another viewpoints. And it has some helpful links and it is written specifically for he Australian Market.

I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who is about to go through this most difficult period.It takes all the hard work out of it and so you are able to be there for your loved ones instead of worrying about the next difficult decision.I particularly liked seeing it from the different perspectives,something I would never have thought of.Written from someone who is quailified in her field it gave me such great insights for what is in store for such a challenging time.I also loved the authors sense of humour throughout the book.
