but I steel feel like I am defective"

Among many available professional, as well as non-professional publications on cognitive therapy this one is somehow unique. It groups most of negative types of thinking in one volume. Author believes that in order to "change" the world among us and ourselves - we have to modify our thoughts and (usually irrational) way of thinking. Question is only: How? She suggests it
- by identifying the negative thought,
- by defining it,
- by learning how to modify or change it into positive, rational thought or
opinion about ourselves or others.
The structure of negative thoughts (and the method how to change them) the author describes is the four-way process: Identification, definition, example and modification.
For example:
Identification. Emotional reasoning
Definition: You think this must be truth because you feel so and you disregard the obvious facts.
Example: I know I do a lot of things perfectly, but I steel feel like I am defective".
Modification: I know I do a lot of things perfectly. It is fine for me to admit that and be proud of the fact it is the result of my hard and persistent work.
